We've made it our mission to educateequip and empower children who have experienced significant trauma, and help them create a self-leading future.

Sadly, children (mainly young women) are often the most vulnerable and susceptible to significant trauma in poverty-stricken communities. The recipients of significant trauma live a contrastingly lower quality of life compared to their counterparts, and that's if they are lucky enough to be extracted from the environment causing their significant trauma.

Our Mission

Absent Society aims to address this through a program of education, vocational training, and employment. At Absent Society, these young women will be restored and equipped with the skills they need to create a better future for themselves and their families.

Our Mission breaks the vicious cycle, and fashion is the key! Read how we use fashion to complete our mission below.

HELP US: Simply signing up to our email listing (at the bottom-right of the page) will help us spread the word by letting you know when we do something new for young women and men.

Simply telling 1 friend about our mission will make a huge impact on us. We thank you for giving us your time.

How we use fashion to complete our mission

The famous proverb 'Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and feed him for a lifetime' describes exactly how we use fashion to allow young people to take control of their own destiny.

Rather than simply giving a hand out to young people in poverty and dire circumstances, at Absent Society, we will teach them to rise above their circumstances and become independent through education, vocational training, and employment.

By tailor making clothing factories and infrastructure, we can help remove young people from traumatizing environments and teach important life skills to instill confidence and provide security for their future. Employment at Absent Society will ensure they lead a self-sustained and financially independent future to break the cycle.

Support will be given in the form of:

  • Education (literacy, budgeting, parenting, health etc.)

  • Personal development (leadership training, mentorship program, self defence classes)

  • Finance (Advice and employment)
